Attractive Salary and Package

SOAS University of London is one of the world’s leading institutions for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We are a truly global university, with one of the most international student and staff bodies in the world. Our work has a positive impact on the local and global communities with which we engage. We provide the resources and knowledge to equip people for a global economy and a multicultural world.

There is nowhere quite like SOAS. We are not a conventional institution, our staff, students and alumni have a strong sense of social purpose. One of our core strengths is that we work to make the world a better place. Proud of our position in the most culturally diverse capital city in the world we have an exceptional global view that needs preserving and broadcasting.  This new role, reporting to the Registrar and Secretary, brings together a number of areas to drive forward important strategic initiatives and priorities across fundraising, alumni relations, communication and external and policy engagement by amplifying the ‘SOAS Voice’. It is a highly complex and visible leadership role that will be delivered against a backdrop of change and transition for the institution. The opportunity is significant and important. As world changers our messaging needs to be strong and this role plays an important part in developing an accurate, values based narrative that positions SOAS as a national and global influencer.

We are looking to appoint a Director who can demonstrate a record of outstanding leadership in an external engagement, fundraising and policy related role. While knowledge of the higher education sector would be an advantage, your experience in an international setting and bringing a global outlook in a related sector are more important.  Success at SOAS requires our leaders to be uncompromising in supporting our values and brave as we position our institution at the forefront of some the world’s most complex and controversial issues.

Closing date for applications is midday Monday 5 March 2018.

At SOAS we celebrate diversity and promote equality and inclusion amongst our staff and students. As such, we welcome applications from all, regardless of personal characteristics or background. We particularly welcome applications from Women and Black and Minority Ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within SOAS at senior level.
