Monash is Australia’s largest and most international university, a member of the country’s prestigious Group of Eight research-intensive universities, and ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide. Monash employs more than 7,500 FTE staff and has over 70,000 student enrolments.

The Opportunity

Leading a small team of direct reports and coordinating the activities of the outsourced service provider, you will deliver the risk-based internal audit strategy, annual audit plan and associated activities across the University, including its controlled entities and off-shore campuses. You will also provide consulting services to senior management across a broad range of areas including fraud and corruption prevention, assurance and business improvements directed towards improving the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of the organisation. Working with significant autonomy, you will report to the Vice-President (Strategy and Governance).

You should have appropriate qualifications (CA/CPA) with significant experience managing the internal audit function of a large, complex and multi-faceted organisation. A ‘value-add’ perspective and the ability to cast a critical eye over financial operations, systems and processes will be expected. Experience working in an outsourced model (either as a provider or recipient of services) and knowledge of public sector auditing regulations would be well regarded. Political savvy, gravitas, strong influencing and negotiating skills, a high level of written and verbal communication skills, good discipline around deliverables and adherence to commitments are required.
