Vice President (Student Affairs)

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a government-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong.  It offers programmes at various levels including Doctorate, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees.  It has a full-time academic staff strength of around 1,400.  The total annual consolidated expenditure budget of the University is in excess of HK$7.5 billion.

The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Vice President (Student Affairs).  This appointment will be made on either a substantive basis or a concurrent basis for a fixed term.  Reporting to Deputy President and Provost, the appointee will be a member of the senior management team responsible for student affairs of the University. 

Job Functions

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    oversee the development and execution of institutional policies and plans in the areas of student development and culture promotion of the University;

(b)    build up connections with leading universities and strategic partners in overseas countries and the Chinese mainland to foster academic collaboration for student development and culture promotion;

(c)    promote and ensure effective implementation of student exchange opportunities;

(d)    oversee and lead the operation of some non-academic departments of the University as designated; and

(e)    perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy President and Provost or his/her delegate.


Applicants should:

(a)    have outstanding academic qualifications at Professor or above level with evidence of eminent scholarship;  

(b)    have demonstrated capability and track records in formulating policies and strategies in matters relating to student affairs including international partnership to foster student development and culture promotion;

(c)    have an international outlook and a good understanding of the global trends and opportunities in higher education;

(d)    possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;

(e)    be a visionary and inspiring leader with an excellent drive for performance; and

(f)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 
Terms of appointment and remuneration package are negotiable and highly competitive.
