The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in health economics. CHERE is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow with experience in health economics, biostatistics or health services research to contribute to a number of projects within our economic evaluation team.
The economic evaluation team undertakes independent research, commissioned work and performs critical appraisal of health technology assessments. A key component of the role will be evaluating Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) submissions and preparing health technology assessment reports for the Medical Benefits Advisory Committee. The position will also support the operations of the Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST).
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Critical appraisal of PBAC submissions
- Developing modelled cost-effectiveness analysis
- Reviewing clinical trial concepts and protocols and analysis of clinical trial and patient data
- Preparing high quality written reports and peer-reviewed journal articles
- Contributing to researcher initiated research projects
- Assisting with the running of the CREST program.
You will be an effective team member, working closely with health economists, clinical experts and biostatisticians. To be successful in applying for this role, you should have:
- Demonstrated ability in statistical analysis, critical appraisal and systematic literature review
- Excellent written and quantitative skills, with experience in using modelling software, such as excel and TreeAge
- Previous experience in economic evaluation and health technology assessment, or related research
- Track record of peer reviewed publications (desirable - Level B only)
- Post-graduate degree in economics, health economics, health services research, statistics, public health, epidemiology, pharmacy or equivalent (Level B only)
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range:$75,871 to $115,486 pa(Level A to Level B)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 24 months.
