Are you looking for an exciting role with a world-leading university working with some really senior-level internal and external stakeholders and the chance to further your career? Do you want to make a meaningful difference to your organisation and see tangible results from your efforts? Would you like to work at our expansive and developing campus based in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside? Are you motivated by working for an organisation that is truly making the world a better place?
Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management, with close links to industry and business and an active and influential network of alumni and friends around the globe.
The University’s alumni are at heart of these roles and you will be in the privileged position of helping us to build relationships with some of the most prominent and influential individuals within our community. These are fascinating business leaders and entrepreneurs, whose shops you go to, restaurants you eat in and technology you use every day. They all share a strong connection with Cranfield University and have the power to make a difference to our University through philanthropy.
We are currently looking to fill two key roles in the Alumni Relations and Development team, the aim of each to build levels of philanthropic support for the University. The first is Development Manager (Major Gifts), responsible for managing relationships with a portfolio of approximately 300 potential major donors capable of supporting the University at the £10,000 and above level, with a view to securing meetings, cultivating relationships and soliciting major gifts at the appropriate time. The second is Development Manager (Special Projects), responsible for managing relationships with approximately 150 Year Representatives (YRs) who serve as a key liaison between the School of Management and their respective programme year groups, through regular communication via email, telephone and face-to-face meetings. You will also manage a portfolio of approximately 150 mid-value major gift prospects and encourage their support for Cranfield. You will work closely with major gift colleagues and the Regular Giving Manager on strategies to encourage philanthropic support for the Annual Fund or other funding priorities as appropriate among this group.
Success in these roles requires positivity, energy and most of all a large degree of emotional intelligence. You will have gravitas and the ability to interact with sensitivity, diplomacy and discretion with individuals at the most senior levels. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will be able to convey complex cases for support with conviction. You must also have excellent computer skills, ideally with some experience using a customer relationship management database. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have worked in a similar role previously. Experience and understanding of the higher education or charity sectors would be an advantage.
For an informal discussion about the roles please contact James Pagliaro, Development Manager on E: firstname.lastname@example.org
