The Department of Art & Design is seeking to appoint a dynamic, experienced and inspirational Senior Lecturer to lead the Department’s BA (hons) Fashion Management & Communication Course with the skills to take the course forward at a time of growth and development.

You will have an excellent understanding of the fashion related industries and a comprehensive knowledge of the contemporary global fashion industry. We will consider candidates from the broad area of Fashion, Fashion Management & Communication however you must have specialist knowledge through academic experience and industry practice of one or more of the following aspects of Fashion Brand Management or Communication, and a working knowledge of others; creative direction, fashion image making/photography, fashion film, media communication, fashion styling, social media content, website design, show production/curation, journalism. 

Experience of preparing undergraduate students for careers involving the communication and promotion of fashion is essential and you will bring with you strong professional relationships and high profile industry contacts to support students in defining and developing their future career paths. You will contribute to teaching a range of modules across the course and be expected to be an active researcher with the ability to contribute to a growing research culture within the Department and Subject group.

The role will include managing a staff team and working closely with the Subject Group Leader, other course leaders and the Department Management Team. You must have excellent skills in course organisation and management and have the skills necessary to promote the course at external events regionally, nationally and internationally and develop the courses approach to outreach activities, so experience of interviewing and recruitment strategies are essential. 

Excellent people management skills including the ability to establish good working relationships, persuade others and manage performance and potential conflict effectively are vital to this role. You will have an entrepreneurial approach to developing the course and have the leadership skills to take the course forward as it responds to the changing landscape of the industry and HE sectors.
