Appointment of Professor in Cyber Security Education
The Open University – one of the world’s leading institutions for truly open, distance learning –places a high value on excellence and expertise in innovative, student-centred pedagogy and curriculum design. To capitalise on our growing strengths in cyber security within the School of Computing and Communications, we are seeking to appoint a Professor in Cyber Security Education as part of a wider investment in this area. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of innovative student-centred learning in the area of cyber security, complementing the school’s internationally leading research in the field. The post is part of a wider strategy to develop the pedagogical scholarship community, as well as strengthen synergies between research and teaching excellence at The Open University.
Related to the post is The Open University’s role as a leading partner in the Institute of Coding (IoC - www.instituteofcoding.org), together with the University of Bath, Aston University, Coventry University, and Queen Mary University of London. The Institute is a unique and innovative collaboration that is supported by £20 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for England and match funding from universities and industry partners. This is a hugely exciting new venture to try to address the digital skills gap: equipping learners of all disciplines to fulfil their potential in the digital economy and meet employment needs. The post will be key in the development and delivery of the OU’s contributions to this initiative.
