Associate Professor in Orthodontics
The appointee will report to the Head of School of Oral Health through the FNU’s reporting structure and be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, providing leadership in the development of clinical research and administrative matters. Also the appointee will be responsible for teaching and day to day supervision of students in the clinical rotations. Duties include carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. Appointee will also be required to undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Head of the School.
PHD in relevant discipline or Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or significant (normally 10 years) tertiary teaching experience. An Associate Professor will have the same skill base as an Senior Lecturer and in addition there is a requirement for academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and /or scholarship.
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and abilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
