The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Construction Informatics, Chair of Construction Informatics (Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction), offers two positions starting the 1 st of March and 3rd of April 2018 as
Research Associate / PhD Student
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The period of employment is limited to three years and can be extended for another three years (subject to excellent performance). The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The positions aim at obtaining further academic qualification (PhD).
In summer term 2018 the Chair of Construction Informatics is going to be reoccupied. Currently, teaching and research of the Chair focus on Building Information Modelling. It is envisaged to extend the research portfolio. To achieve this, the University will set up a new research laboratory for Digital Design, Construction and Operation of buildings and infrastructure systems, covering areas such as (i) digital surveying, (ii) digital manufacturing, (iii) building automation and control; and (iv) robotics. The lab will support research and teaching activities. An interdisciplinary team of researchers with a background in engineering, architecture and applied informatics will set up and operate this lab.
Tasks: teaching and research obligations in the field of construction informatics; planning and performing of seminars and experiments in the lab of the Chair. Furthermore, appointees will assist in delivering of service and management tasks of the Chair of Construction Informatics.
Requirements: Applicants should hold a university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) obtained from an internationally recognized university in either engineering, architecture or applied computer science. Knowledge and skills in at least one of the following areas are required: (i) Big Data, Data Analysis, Pattern Recognition, (ii) Robotics, (iii) Business process modelling. A demonstrated commitment to work in international, interdisciplinary teams and excellent command of the English language in speaking and writing to prepare research papers are essential. Willingness to travel and mobility are required. Knowledge in building information modelling is desirable.
