The School of Design is looking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior lecturer in Fashion Design. You will have a creative and developmental role within the Fashion subject discipline underpinned by your research and/or professional practice. Contributing a high level of creative and technical expertise within the Fashion Academic Group of BA (Hons) and MA programmes, you will be an inspirational teacher who has the enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of designers. You will be able to work effectively in a team and be committed to contributing to the Department’s research agenda and global reputation.
You will be instrumental in developing new research projects, collaborations with external partners and your own high quality research outputs. You will have relevant professional experience in the Fashion industry demonstrated through presenting your knowledge and experience of the cultural, environmental, ethical and commercial imperatives to the professional practice of Fashion. You will engage with teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will require excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Whilst teaching experience is desirable it is not essential; however, an understanding and interest of Fashion within the context of Higher Education is a distinct advantage.
You will also actively contribute to maintaining existing and forging new links with industry, external organisations and the education sector in the UK and internationally. You will be working with a successful and experienced team of Fashion Design educators and practitioners who are actively engaged in the subject through diverse research and enterprise activities.
Our programmes are interdisciplinary in nature and therefore you will be able to demonstrate your comprehensive understanding of the context of Fashion practice within the design discipline and how this contributes to society, culture and the wider technological and economic landscape.
