Student Workshop Trainer

UNSW Canberra is a university college of UNSW, based in Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
UNSW Canberra has four academic Schools (School of Business, School of Engineering & Information Technology, School of Humanities & Social Sciences and School of Physical, Environmental & Mathematical Sciences) and employs approximately 200 academic and 160 professional staff. UNSW Canberra staff undertake both Defence and non-Defence related academic research.
As at 31 March, the Semester 1 2017 enrolled students totalled 3,212 including 1,075 undergraduate students, 1,684 postgraduate coursework students, 371 research students and 82 non-award students.
UNSW is currently negotiating with the ACT Government to develop a new campus in Canberra.
An exciting opportunity exists as a Student Workshop Trainer in the Technical Support Group (TSG) within the School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT), UNSW Canberra. The Student Workshop Trainer provides training support in fabrication and machining skilling to stakeholders within the School including academic staff, undergraduate and postgraduate research students and other technical professional staff including apprentices.
The Student Workshop Trainer will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering and evaluating in-house and outsourced training programs as well as providing technical advice and assistance to stakeholders for teaching and research projects.
About the Role:
- Level 5/6: $71,451 - $89,238 pa (+17% super)
- Full Time (35 hours per week)
About the Successful Applicant:
The successful applicant will be highly autonomous and have the capacity to develop and deliver training programs to a wide variety of stakeholders. The position holder will have Trade qualifications in Fitting and Machining and also hold a formal training qualification.
The applicant will be able to confidently deliver relevant and interesting training programs, which will be supported by quality content and verified through training program feedback mechanisms. To be successful an individual must understand the importance of clear and timely communications with stakeholders, and possess the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders ranging from academics to higher degree research and undergraduate students and external suppliers. The position holder will need to be flexible and have the ability to adapt to constantly evolving demands and priorities.
