Vice-Principal Research and Innovation

It's an exciting time to consider joining the Edinburgh Napier University leadership team as a Vice-Principal. Growing the University's academic reputation and delivering an exceptional student experience are integral to our Strategy 2020, and we are looking for two outstanding individuals to take strategic leadership of Research and Innovation, and Learning and Teaching. Internationalisation and income growth are also in focus, as you will play a vital role in steering how we expand the University's global reach and in creating innovative new revenue streams. As Vice-Principal will also lead three of our six Schools, providing invaluable oversight to further help Edinburgh Napier reach its full potential.

The Role

The Vice-Principal Research and Innovation will set the vision and strategy to allow research to flourish across the University. You will take charge of building research capacity and capability within all of our Schools, and drive research excellence in pioneering fields and exciting cross-disciplinary areas, helping Edinburgh Napier to raise its research profile nationally and internationally. Your passion for your role and for the University will inspire leading academics to work with us, whether as staff or in partnerships. With your direction, all Schools will build strong research portfolios, secure grants and publish effectively, making Edinburgh Napier's name as a global research hub.

Who we are looking for

This role calls for an accomplished academic leader, who has attained a professorial role and has an outstanding track record in the relevant area - Research and Innovation. Highly driven, you consistently strive for better, and wish to excel in your next leadership post. You should have strong analytical skills and a proven ability to formulate and successfully deliver strategic plans and also grow income. Inspiring and motivational yet open and approachable, you are effective at managing change and bring out the best in your teams. As one of the faces of Edinburgh Napier, your passion and commitment to the University and to delivering an unrivalled student experience will be obvious to all.

Initial telephone interviews will take place on the 14th and 16th February.
First stage panel interview will take place 28th of February and 5th of March.
Final stage interviews will take place 12th and 26th March 2018.
