A postdoctoral position is available to work in the group of Professor John Bower on a Royal Society Challenge Grant funded project entitled: “Strategies Towards Potent Trypanocidal Drugs: Synthesis of Substituted Naphthoquinoidal Systems and their Evaluation Against Trypanosoma cruzi”. The project is a collaboration with Professor Eufrânio N. da Silva Júnior (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil). The successful applicant will develop new synthetic methodologies to prepare substituted naphthoquinones. For a publication relevant to this project, see: Chem. Sci. 2016, 7, 3780-3784. The position is available for up to 12 months.
 
The successful candidate will either already hold a PhD in organic chemistry or a closely related area, or have completed their PhD studies and submitted their thesis by the start date. We seek individuals who are prepared to take a leading role in advancing the project from an experimental and intellectual standpoint. Motivated and skilled researchers, with a background in the development of synthetic methodology or natural product synthesis, are encouraged to apply.
