The School of Arts is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Italian to join its languages and cultures grouping at an exciting time of consolidation and development.

About the role

As a member of thediscipline of Italian,the appointee will contribute to teaching, curriculum development and flexible delivery of units in the language and in relevant literary/cultural areas, and may be required to superviseprojects in undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and Honours, and higher degree research (HDR) candidates.The successful applicant will be expected to undertake research in Italian Studies and to contribute to the expansion of research capacity in languages and cultures.The role also includes relevant academic service and administration appropriate to the level of appointment.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant must have a doctorate or a doctorate nearing completion in a recognised area of Italian scholarship, experience in teaching Italian language at a tertiary institution, and native or near-native competence in both spoken and written Italian and English.The ability to teach a range of texts at undergraduate and coursework postgraduate levels is required, and specialisation in and broad knowledge of one or more of the following areas is desirable: 14th Century Italian literature, Italian Renaissance literature, 19th or 20th Century Italian literature. The applicant must demonstrate skills and experience in innovative pedagogy, and preferably in online language teaching. The appointee will have a research track record in Italian Studies, and demonstrate capacity for continuing relevant research. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a requirement of the position.
