Applications are invited for appointments as Assistant Director of Estates/Senior Technical Manager (several posts) in the Estates Office, to commence as soon as possible, on a two- or three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
To cope with the workload on the planned capital development projects and for the succession plan of the Estates Office, we are looking for high calibre professionals to fill the vacant posts. Reporting to the Director of Estates, the Assistant Director of Estates will be responsible for leading in-house managers and external professional services consultants in managing a number of major capital works projects. Applicants should: (a) have a good university degree in architecture, engineering, surveying or a relevant discipline, and relevant professional qualifications; (b) have demonstrated track record in leadership with at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience in managing large-scale building or infrastructure projects, of which at least 5 years must be at a responsible position; relevant experience in higher education, heritage, laboratory or healthcare facilities would be an advantage; (c) be conversant with the local statutory regulations, dealing with Government officials in subvention procedures; relevant experience in public sector organizations and setting up office practice would be an advantage; (d) possess excellent communication, analytical and supervisory skills as well as the ability to work independently and to develop solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and (e) possess a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued in accordance with Chapter 59 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (i.e. by attending the relevant safety training courses which are recognized by the Commissioner for Labour), or equivalent. Those with lesser experience/qualifications would be considered as Senior Technical Manager.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. For Assistant Director of Estates, housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
