The University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a new Director of Research and Enterprise Development (RED) responsible for providing the overall leadership and coordination of the activities of the Division.
 
RED was created in 2000 and has grown, developed and evolved to be a key player in the research, knowledge exchange and enterprise space within the University, the city of Bristol and the UK.  RED is also recognised both within the University and across the sector as a high performing Division.
 
The purpose of RED is simple: to help keep the University at the forefront of research excellence, to encourage a positive culture of research integrity, to support improved impact of research outcomes and to foster an enterprise culture that is embraced by those who work at the University.  The successful candidate will be integral to continuing this remit as well delivering growth and sustainability by providing expert guidance and advice, project management and a variety of other professional activities.
 
Ideally you will have substantial experience gained within a senior research management, business or research policy role allied with the knowledge of research and enterprise development and management in the higher education sector and with a working network to match.  You will also have the leadership skills to inspire and enthuse a team of skilled professionals to establish credibility and respect with the wider academic community and funders.  The ability to bring commercial knowledge and acumen to bear in identifying and leading customer and market orientated income generation opportunities related to research, knowledge transfer and enterprise is also essential.  Reporting to the Registrar/Chief Operating Officer, the Director of RED is also a member of the University's senior management.
