The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a government-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong. It offers programmes at various levels including Doctorate, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees. It has a full-time academic staff strength of around 1,400. The total annual consolidated expenditure budget of the University is in excess of HK$7.5 billion.
The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) offers a comprehensive range of programmes in hospitality, tourism, and convention and event education at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. The School currently enrolls more than 2,100 students and is staffed with 75 full-time faculty members drawn from 22 countries.
Rated No. 1 in the world in the “Hospitality and Tourism Management” category according to ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017, placed No. 1 in the world in the “Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism” subject area by the CWUR Rankings by Subject 2017 and ranked among the top 3 “Hospitality and Leisure Management” institutions globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017, the SHTM is a symbol of excellence in the field, exemplifying its motto of Leading Hospitality and Tourism.

The appointees will be required to:
(a) teach at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels;
(b) initiate, lead and participate in research activities;
(c) undertake academic administration duties; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates.
Applicants should have:
(a) a PhD or other recognised doctoral degree in a related discipline;
(b) substantial university teaching experience and an excellent portfolio of teaching in respective areas;
(c) substantial managerial experience in the industry directly related to the position;
(d) demonstrated academic leadership in hospitality and tourism through research, awards of research grants, scholarship and high level consultancy in respective areas; and.
(e) a track record of publication in internationally recognised journals in hospitality and tourism, with successful experience in research grant applications.
Preference will be given to those with a strong research orientation, the potential to publish in high quality scholarly journals and a good teaching record. Applicants having at least two years of full time industry experiences in relevant areas are preferred. Candidates with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor.
