Subject/subject description

Business Administration, with a specialisation in Accounting. Accounting is the part of the Business Administration that focuses on studies of financial accounting, management accounting or auditing.

Main responsibilities

The position includes conducting own research during at least 50% of the time. In addition, teaching and supervision and participation in the planning and development of education in subject discipline includes accounting for a maximum of 50% of working hours. Teaching is expected to take place in English as well as in Swedish. It is also expected that the applicant can teach all the subject areas, both public and private, and at all levels, ie at undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and executive and professional education.

The applicant is expected to engage in the institution's research as well as to initiate, organize and lead research projects. Furthermore, the professor's activities will be directed towards international scientific publications, research applications and leading administrative duties within the department and faculty.

Qualification requirements

An applicant who is qualified for the position as a professor will have demonstrated both research and teaching skills.

Research expertise should have been demonstrated through independent research that significantly exceeds the requirements for qualification as an Associate Professor, both in terms of quality and quantity. Significance is also attached to the planning and coordination of research.

Teaching proficiency should have been demonstrated through teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The assessment of teaching skillsshouldcover theplanning, implementationand evaluation of teaching,as well as supervision and examination. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Assessment criteria

Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills.
Strong emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.

Strong emphasis will be placed on successful research supervision, as principal supervisor, demonstrated through active guidance of at least one student to a completed PhD degree.

Strong emphasis will be placed on international publications in the field of management accounting.

Strong emphasis will also be placed on the ability to initiate, maintain and develop networks, national as well as international, in research, teaching and society.

Emphasis will be placed on administrative proficiency and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development.

Emphasis will be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.

The following is a merit:

  • Completion of at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, or to have otherwise acquired the equivalent knowledge.
  • Completed training in research supervision.
  • Completed academic executive education or similar.

Additional information

An applicant who does not have at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education and research supervisor training, and is not deemed to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years of employment.

Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be prepared to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require proficiency in Swedish within two years of employment.
