The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is ranked 20th in the World (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018) and is one of the most prestigious Arts and Humanities faculties in the UK. Based in the heart of London, with close proximity and links to renowned cultural institutions, the Faculty comprises 14 academic departments, two cross-institutional units and welcomes 4,800 students and over 400 academic and professional services staff. 99% of the research in the Faculty has been judged as having outstanding (4*) and very significant impact (3*), with numerous departments rated in the top 10 nationally for both the power and quality of their research in REF 2014. 

The Faculty’s vision is to be distinctive and bold, sustaining its reputation as one of the world’s leading Arts and Humanities faculties and continuing to build upon its strong traditional roots with distinctive and emerging subjects. King’s is now seeking to appoint an outstanding Executive Dean to lead the design and delivery of a high-quality student experience, foster an environment that encourages and enables the highest quality research, and to sustain and develop the Faculty’s global reputation. As a member of the Academic Board, the Senior Management Team and the Arts & Sciences Executive Team, the Executive Dean will be responsible for the development of the Faculty’s strategic vision, in conjunction with King’s Strategic Vision 2029. 

The successful candidate will be a significant academic leader with an outstanding profile in a field relevant to the Faculty’s portfolio with a strong track record in research, education and professional achievement, including significant management and leadership roles. The Executive Dean will lead, inspire and enthuse a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
