The role of Lecturer (Level C) is to coordinate the Bachelor of Social Program (BSW) and develop and teach coursework units in both undergraduate and postgraduate social work programs as required.

This position also involves the supervision of student research projects and to conduct a program of research as well as contribute to administrative activities within the Discipline.

The person we seek will ideally have the following

  • PhD relevant to the area of social work
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake and publish research
  • Taught in higher education settings in social work and related areas
  • Developed teaching materials and coordinate programs and units of study
  • Experience with mixed modes of program delivery including online delivery
  • Ability to supervise student research (honours and post graduate)
  • Administrative experience linked to teaching and research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to engage students in the learning process
  • Worked in a hands-on collaboratively environment focused on student outcome
  • Demonstrated experience of practice in social work
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies of relevance to the work environment
  • Highly developed practice skills
  • Ability to contribute to other areas of teaching within the Discipline of Social Work
  • Ability to develop links with external public and private sector organisations and community and/or professional bodies
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research leading to publications in high quality, peer reviewed journals
