Keele University is renowned for its exciting approach to higher education, innovative research, beautiful campus, strong community spirit and excellent student experience. Our distinctive educational programmes and learning environment make our students amongst the most satisfied in the country, as reflected in our NSS survey results and recent Gold award in the TEF, and our research helps shape the world, with 97 per cent classified as world-leading or of international importance in the most recent REF. With a turnover in excess of £155 million, over 10,000 students and a total staff of approximately 2,200, the University has a diverse academic profile led by staff working at the forefront of their subjects.
We are now looking to appoint a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join Keele and play a pivotal role in our future development. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and an integral member of the University Executive Committee, the CFO will be expected to contribute at a strategic level, not only providing financial control but supporting decision-making across the University and ensuring that resources are allocated in alignment with our strategic priorities. The CFO will be responsible for leading the University’s Finance function, leading a team of around 50 staff.
Candidates for the role will need to possess a strong track record of leadership in finance, with proven success in implementing innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to the management of finances in large organisations, and the ability to motivate and develop staff to deliver the highest levels of performance. A deep understanding of the strategic issues facing higher education will be beneficial, and a genuine commitment to providing agile and proactive service delivery, as well as the ability to foster these qualities in staff, will also be essential.
