Tenure-Track, Tenured Faculty Position Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University invites applications for a Tenure-track faculty position with a specialization in: Nanoelectronic and quantum devices and circuits, and; Low power and high performance VLSI design. We will also consider exceptional candidates in other related fields of electronics.  Preference will be given to candidates at the rank of Assistant professor; however, in the case of a truly exceptional candidate, a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor may also be considered.   Priority will be given to candidates whose research addresses future challenges in line with Queen’s strategic mandate. The preferred start date is July 1, 2018. 
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related discipline completed at the start date of the appointment. Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada, or eligibility to acquire licensure in Canada, is an essential requirement. Postdoctoral or industrial experience will be considered an asset. The main criteria for selection are research and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs. Candidates must also provide evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to make substantive contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is medium-sized with 25 full-time and 7 cross-appointed faculty, 470 undergraduate students, and 170 graduate students. The department offers undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs in electrical and computer engineering and has recently launched a unique entrepreneurial engineering program referred to as ECE Innovation Stream, ECEi. 
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is home to Queen’s Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePOWER) and has connections to a number of multi-disciplinary centres such as: Canadian Microelectronics Corporation (CMC), Nanofabrication Kingston, Human Mobility Research Centre, Green Centre Canada, Innovation Park, and Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Connector.
