The Advanced Services Group (ASG), a research centre of excellence within Aston Business School specialising in helping manufacturing and technology companies to adopt services business models, seeks to appoint a marketing professional to help expand its work with industry. 

The successful candidate will join a growing team of researchers, industry associates and business engagement professionals with a wealth of expertise in providing highly-applicable transformative guidance, based on leading research, to manufacturing executives. This guidance is delivered in the form of education, training, workshops, participation in research and direct business support.

The role holder will play a critical role in the growth of ASG by driving the engagement of an audience of manufacturing and technology businesses ranging from local SMEs to global multinationals. They will be responsible for growing the demand for this research and guidance, using their knowledge and experience of marketing to business audiences, and creating strategies to engage and draw-in new potential clients. 

They will design, manage and implement marketing and communication plans for ASG, working in collaboration with colleagues in the Business School and the wider University, and lead ASG’s market research. They will help to support ASG’s engagement of global academic audiences by creating engaging content to promote the centre’s leading research and its annual international conference. 

The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills with the ability to use imaginative ways to engage the interest of their target audience in a subject matter that can be complex. They will be proactive in seeking out promotional opportunities of all kinds, have experience of using a wide range of platforms and media to share content, and be very comfortable with online inbound marketing techniques.

They will have demonstrable experience of successfully building engaged audiences of business executives, a commercial drive to increase demand for the centre’s services and desire to make a difference to the manufacturing industry.

The role is advertised on a fixed term 12 month basis, but subject to successful implementation of marketing plans and subsequent growth, it is expected that the contract will be extended.
