IT Services invites applications for a full-time, IT Technician to cover a maternity cover secondment. As part of the IT Service Desk team you will be required to provide first line IT support via counter service, telephone and email, identifying, triaging and solving problems and providing guidance to staff and students in the use of University PC systems and online services.
 
You will have strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to communicate clearly in face-to-face interactions, by telephone and in email and other written documents is essential.
 
Applicants should have technical skills gained from experience of supporting staff and students at all levels of seniority and experience using a range of desktop software, operating systems and hardware in common use. Past experience of Office 365, Windows 7 and 10 along with setup and use of mobile devices and wifi are desirable.
 
You will have knowledge of basic user account management in a Windows Domain environment and a basic working knowledge of Windows Domains. Experience of supporting PCs in a large organisation is essential as is experience of using of an electronic Helpdesk System.
 
Attention to detail is fundamental to the role, as is a flexible attitude to work along with an aptitude for learning new skills, and the willingness to work as part of a team.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to work fixed hours normally 8am to 4pm or 9.30am to 5.30pm
 
This post is offered on a fixed term until 31st January 2019 but may end earlier should the substantive post holder return earlier from maternity leave.
