Colorado State University (CSU) is a land-grant institution and a Carnegie Research University. CSU was founded as the Colorado Agricultural College in 1870, six years before the Colorado Territory gained statehood. It was one of 68 land-grant colleges established under the Morrill Act of 1862. The doors opened to a freshman class of 20 students in 1879. In 1935, the school became the Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, or Colorado A & M, and was renamed Colorado State University in 1957. The University has grown to its present enrollment of approximately 34,000 students.
The landscape architecture program originated in 1975 and is committed to ongoing exploration of design, precedent/history, nature and culture in order to prepare students for the challenges of the future and to enable faculty to achieve excellence in teaching, advising, research, and service.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture at Colorado State University. This is a full-time, 9-month tenure-track position in the landscape architecture program (BSLA), anticipated to start August 15, 2018.
Areas of Contribution: The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of technical and construction methods, core principles of design, process oriented practice, design computing and hand drawing, and a passion for teaching and critical design exploration. The individual will be responsible for teaching an average of four courses per year across the curriculum in the undergraduate program. Course technology ranges from AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and SketchUp – and course topics include landscape history, advanced computer modeling, site engineering and construction documentation, urban design, garden design, and a breadth of theory and practice.
The candidate will be expected to develop a program of research and outreach in landscape architecture. In the spirit of the land-grant university mission, the ideal candidate will embrace opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research and projects throughout the University and the broader community.

Required Job Qualifications
- Master of Landscape Architecture
- Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) or Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture (BSLA)
Five years of continuous professional practice demonstrating a strong working knowledge in landscape architecture.
- An accredited degree in landscape architecture
- Demonstrated ability to teach the technical and construction based skills with contemporary knowledge and use of design computing/3D modeling (Such as AutoCAD, Microstation, GIS, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite)
- Demonstrated ability to impart knowledge through teaching and mentoring
- Strong communication skills
- Potential to develop a program of landscape architecture research and outreach, to include interdisciplinary work
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated pedagogical experience in advanced subjects of design, advanced technologies, analog and digital methods, planting design and design theory
- Demonstrated excellent teaching experience, course development, research and grant awards
- Evidence of contemporary professional practice post-baccalaureate degree and ability to demonstrate successful technical design within drawing/construction sets and/or built work
- Demonstrate professional accomplishments in the field
