Charles Sturt University develops far-sighted people with a holistic world view who help their communities grow and flourish. Acknowledging the culture and insight of Indigenous Australians, CSU’s ethos is clearly described by the Wiradjuri phrase: ‘yindyamarra winhanga-nha’ (‘the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in’).
The Future Moves: School Outreach Officer will ensure well-coordinated and professionally managed on-campus and school-based activities are carried out with schools in the Port Macquarie region. You will support the Program Coordinator in the development and presentation of activities, information sessions and workshops for school students from Years K-12 (and, in some instances, for parents and staff), with the aim of increasing awareness and aspiration for university study. Working with Indigenous students and their communities is a strong focus of the program.
The Future Moves Program sits within the Academic Success Unit within the Division of Student Services. Staff in the Division of Student Services work collaboratively with Faculties and Divisions to enhance students’ University experiences. This position is funded by the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP), a Federal Government funded program that aims to ensure that Australians from low SES backgrounds who have the ability to study at university get the opportunity to do so. It provides funding to assist universities to undertake activities and implement strategies that improve access to undergraduate courses for people from low SES backgrounds, as well as improve the retention and completion rates of those students.
Applicants are expected to apply online and address the selection criteria listed in the position description.
