Based in the leading research team in the Earthquake and Geotechnical Engineering (EGE) Group within the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the EPSRC-funded project SAFER (Seismic Safety and Resilience of Schools in Nepal) that is currently active. The project seeks to tackle international development challenges in Nepal through engineering research for sustainable infrastructure and disaster resilience.
As the successful candidate you will provide capability in the areas of earthquake geo-structural engineering. You will undertake research tasks focused on designing and testing a novel low-cost seismic sliding foundation system for schools in Nepal. This work package will be computational and experimental.
You will possess at least a first degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or General Engineering and a PhD (or one that is close to completion) in Structural Engineering (or closely related discipline).

You will have the ability to program in Matlab, knowledge of advanced dynamics, including earthquake engineering and experience of experimental testing programs
