CARB-X has an exciting opportunity in the role of Accelerator Lead, who will drive innovative approaches to accelerate the progress of all CARB- X-funded companies. CARB-X is a new non-profit organization focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to address antibiotic resistance. Approximately $500M has already been committed to this work already and CARB-X has more than 20 innovative therapeutic and diagnostic projects in the rapidly growing portfolio. A unique aspect of the CARB-X model is the emphasis on supporting companies with more than just money. CARB-X brings a holistic approach to working with companies to help them succeed, tapping into a worldwide pool of experts in science, drug discovery and development, and operational effectiveness. Some companies are very new and will benefit from guidance in raising their next round of investments, developing a quality program for their first clinical trial, or even understanding federal requirements for invoices. The Accelerator Lead will work closely with these fast-paced, entrepreneurial companies and the CARB-X support teams to evaluate the business needs of the companies in the field, especially common challenges. The successful candidate will partner with experts around the world to develop shared solutions to the common challenges, and then deliver the solutions through workshops, panel discussions, webinars, etc. The Accelerator Lead must be able to manage projects, but also build effective working relationships with scientists, clinicians, and business experts around the world. Development of the CARB-X community is also a key part of the role: helping members of the CARB-X community connect with each other and with other relevant experts in the broader environment. Some of the community development will be done in face-to-face meetings, and some will be done virtually. The Accelerator Lead will therefore need to be a natural networker, who understands how to help others engage in a diverse and distributed community. The accelerator lead will track and report on the benefits of the acceleration network to support continuous improvement. CARB-X is a fast-paced environment where creativity, flexibility, and collaboration are essential.
