The Danish School of Education at Aarhus University invites applications for an assistant/associate professorship in quantitative education research.

The assistant professorship is a full-time, three-year training position which begins on 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The associate professorship is a permanent position which begins on 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is based at DPU campus Emdrup/Copenhagen or Aarhus. It is important that the successful applicant takes part in the daily activities of the department, including both teaching and supervising. Since the department is situated in both Aarhus and Copenhagen, the successful applicant should expect some travel activity between Aarhus and Copenhagen.

The position

We are looking for someone with knowledge of research in the field of quantitative education research with research interest in international comparative assessment studies. The successful applicant will become part of the research team at the Danish School of Education that is responsible for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in Denmark.
Additionally, the applicant is expected to have expertise in research within the standard educational system. Expertise in another substantive research area in the field of educational sociology or in a related discipline would be advantageous.

The successful applicant should be able to document research qualifications at PhD level or the equivalent within the field of quantitative research methods. The assessment will attach importance to the research and teaching qualifications of applicants within the area covered by this position.

We also expect the successful applicant to cooperate with the research environment focusing on large-scale assessments related to the IEA studies, especially in relation to the TIMSS study, which is one of the research activities conducted by the National Centre for School Research.  
Key criteria of the assessment will be the quality of the research output, which is expected to meet international standards, and successful teaching experience at university level within the field of quantitative school research.
