About us
At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. We place collaboration at the heart of everything we do. With ever growing student numbers, we make sure our people are engaged and empowered by international perspectives, work-oriented connections and inspirational teaching and learning, supported by a range of digital technologies. Together we’re on a journey to transform our students’ lives, and it starts with people like you.

Situated in one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic cities, Bath Spa University offers a range of undergraduate, taught postgraduate and higher research degrees across its three Schools of study - Bath School of Art and Design, College of Liberal Arts and Institute for Education. The breadth and depth of this disciplinary engagement with a focus on creativity, culture, education and enterprise ensures a vigorous and lively learning experience for our students, one that is academically challenging, vocationally relevant, and one that celebrates our unique history and context.

Bath School of Art & Design was established in the early 1850s and has a proud and distinguished history of producing highly successful artists, designers, curators and thinkers who have contributed to the creative and cultural sectors in the UK and internationally in extraordinary ways. With a focus on practice-led enquiry, exploration of ideas, experimentation with process, and direct engagement with the creative industries, the development of a deep and expanded knowledge and understanding for each of our students is individually facilitated.

About the role

We are looking for an expert with an international reputation in the field of drawing and a sustained record of excellent research outputs (in and through drawing practice, contribution to the scholarly infrastructure, or historical and contemporary theory) to join us in a part-time capacity as a Professor of Drawing. You will help us build and consolidate our global reputation through research and professional practice and the creation of new and innovative research projects, individually and in collaboration with a range of high-profile institutions and external partners.  Passionate, engaging and committed, with a flair for communication and relationship building, you will work within the research strategy of the School while contributing to the enhancement of teaching and learning at all levels.
About you

To succeed in this important research role within the School, you will bring an internationally recognised record of exhibition, publication, and/or creative practice together with a history of success in attracting significant external funding support for your work.  Skilled in establishing and leading teams, you will have a real curiosity and passion about the place of drawing within society and in the education of the future generation in the field.
