CARB-X is seeking a talented individual to join our core team at Boston University in the role of Project Manager.

CARB-X is a young entrepreneurial endeavor, focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of products to address antibiotic resistance, including drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. We coordinate with biopharmaceutical accelerators in the US and abroad to select projects for funding and mentor these projects towards clinical trials. We will award more than $455 million for research over a five-year period starting mid 2016. This is one of the largest public-private research partnerships in the world.

The Project Manager will be a critical member of a core team of individuals working together to ensure CARB-X achieves the goals behind its important healthcare-related mission. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the planning and execution of the funding cycles and coordination of pre-award and post-award activities. The scope will include business processes involving the program team, partners within the university, external solution partners, applicants and funded companies.

The Project Manager reports to the R&D Director.

This is a full-time, four-year, grant funded position located in located in the Charles River Campus of Boston University. The position is newly created and is available now.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree. Project Management certification would be an advantage.

At least 5-8 years experience managing projects across multiple sites

Experience with the process of reviewing and processing grant applications an advantage;

Experience with scientific Research and Development to combat infectious diseases, esp. drug discovery phases through initial clinical trials, will be a significant advantage;

Experience with quality assurance processes to ensure the quality and completeness of documents, slides, and data sets with relatively high stakes, e.g. to meet contractual, regulatory or governance requirements

Proficient with project and portfolio management software, e.g. MS Project, SmartSheet, etc.

Experienced with collaborative software, e.g. MS SharePoint.  Experience with advanced capabilities like administering access, developing document routing workflows, etc. would be an advantage.
