Senior Producing Editor
The Senior Producing Editor of WBUR's The ARTery, a reporting team with an editorial focus on arts and culture, supervises a multimedia vertical for audio segment production and contributions for radio broadcasts and other digital audio venues and on-line consumption including a blog, potential podcasts, visual presentation and social media. The arts and culture unit covers various aspects, people and organizations related to the arts (visual and performing) and cultural landscape throughout Massachusetts, with an emphasis on exposing a greater diversity of expression, artists, and communities. The Senior Producing Editor develops and oversees innovative storytelling and narrative establishing a brand and unique identity for the vertical. In addition to the Senior Producing Editor, the ARTery 'team' includes a digital editor, audience engagement producer, two multimedia reporters (who primarily report for radio but can also produced digital first or Senior Producing Editor may also produce reports or other content for only reports), and two part-time reporters. Working with the digital editor, the Senior Producing Editor also manages a growing roster of free-lance contributors for daily digital content. When possible, the on-air or online.
She/he will also work with WBUR Managers to coordinate and facilitate regular public events including roundtables and forums on arts and culture issues. The Senior Producing Editor of WBUR's The ARTery vertical is responsible for developing and executing the overall vision, strategy, promotion and presence throughout the greater Boston community, especially throughout the arts communities. This Senior Producing alignment with the Managing Director of News & Programs and WBURs Editor has leadership and management skills and experience to lead a strong and creative team. Utilizing the craft of public radio journalism to its fullest, the Senior Producing Editor works in Executive Director of News Content on strategic plans related to the arts and culture vertical's growth and evolution.
B.A./B.S., Master's preferred. Five to eight years of related experience.
