Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure after satisfactory completion of a second fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, with an interest in pursuing a career in academic medicine, and with a postgraduate specialist qualification in Orthopaedics and Traumatology or equivalent. Ability to speak Cantonese will be an advantage, although teaching, research and professional activities are conducted in English. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to, and evidence of, excellence in teaching, and preferably possess specialized knowledge and an expertise which can help reinforce and advance the strengths of the Department’s teaching in the broad spectrum of medical and health sciences education. Those with lesser qualifications/experience may be considered for a junior grade. The appointee will undertake teaching responsibilities primarily at undergraduate level, though he/she should also be capable of teaching postgraduate courses and supervising M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. In addition, he/she is expected to conduct high quality scholarly research, provide clinical service and patient care at the University’s teaching hospitals, and participate in services/administration at Departmental, Faculty and University levels. As the appointee may need to work at HKU-Shenzhen Hospital located in Shenzhen, travelling to Mainland China may be required.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
