The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Durham University invites applications for a postdoctoral position, to begin ideally as soon as possible after the closing date. The post-holder will conduct research in statistical methodology related to the projects Developing a real-time Intensive Care Risk Identification System (IRIS) for the early identification and treatment of complications following cardiac surgery’ funded by the British Heart Foundation and in partnership with the University of Manchester.

The research will use state-of-the-art statistical methodology for uncertainty analysis in a clinical context, in partnership with cardiac surgery experts. The aim is to develop new systems for monitoring post-operative patient states for the purpose of early identification of risks such as acute kidney injury. There will be a particular emphasis on Bayesian dynamic modelling and decision support.

This is a fixed term (up to 21 months), externally funded post, formed on the basis of appointment at the bottom of Grade 7
