Student Services Division

If you've been looking for an opportunity to step up to new challenges, to make a real difference for university students and to put new ideas and strategies in place, you've found it. In short, this is the kind of opportunity that comes once in a career.

In this new, senior strategy-focused role at the University of Waikato with five to six direct reports, you'll lead the development of services for students to deliver a first-rate university experience. The ultimate goal is to keep them engaged in their studies and encourage success.

This will involve heading up the development and delivery of a number of strategies. In building a strategy for student success, you'll use data and trends to look at how to integrate support services and break down barriers to success. You'll work on developing and implementing a sports strategy, ensuring appropriate infrastructure is developed to support it. You'll also investigate further opportunities to strengthen student engagement, keeping your finger on the pulse of other tertiary initiatives, and establishing activities and events that create positive experiences.

It's certainly an exciting step up for someone with significant strategic leadership experience. You'll bring strong experience in the tertiary sector, especially in student engagement and retention strategy, and an energy that helps get others on board with your vision. You'll also need to be able to relate well to students; perhaps you've previously worked closely with them, giving you a good understanding of what creates a positive student experience.

If you care about helping students achieve their educational goals, you'll find this an immensely rewarding role. And with your base at the University of Waikato's Hamilton campus, you'll also find an outstanding lifestyle. The University is a vibrant community with a park-like campus full of trees and lakes, while Hamilton is a growing, family-friendly city that's close to beaches, mountains, and a host of other outdoor activities around the North Island.
