The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. It is a centre for learning, teaching and research in a vast range of engineering disciplines, computer science and high level mathematics. Academic staff are world leaders in their fields of consulting, advanced fundamental and applied research. Graduates are highly regarded by employers. The faculty offers an intellectually exciting and innovative environment in which to work, within seven Schools, including:
The School of Mathematical Sciences provides an intellectual environment, developing students with skills in high level mathematics. The school provided specific degrees in mathematical sciences and computer sciences with specialisations in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics.
This position is funded by the ARC Discovery Project “Multiscale modelling of systems with complex microscale detail”. The successful applicant will develop systematic mathematical and computational methods for the efficient and accurate macroscale modelling of systems with microscale irregular details. These microscale details cover a wide variety of physical phenomena, such as point defects in lattices, stochastic forcing, and shock propagation. This project is part of a long-term research strategy to produce a general and widely applicable computational macroscale scheme for complex microscale systems for use in high-performance computing simulations in engineering and science.
