Aston Medical School is focused on promoting social mobility, leadership and international connectivity while addressing the needs of its community through its widening participation pathway, research strategy and emphasis on primary care education and healthcare leadership.

We now seek an enthusiastic and skilled General Practitioner (or similar) for a part-time Clinical Senior Lecturer (0.4-0.6 FTE) post to lead the design, management and delivery of an innovative undergraduate primary care curriculum.  There are short GP experiences in Year 1, followed by longer placements in Years 2, 3 and 5.   

Working within a supportive and dynamic multi-professional MBChB team the post-holder will plan the education for primary care and recruit, train and quality manage the educational aspects of our GP and primary care tutors and partner practices.  In addition the post-holder will oversee and contribute to teaching students clinical skills and communication, and make a major contribution to the design and running of Multiple Mini Interviews for admissions and clinical assessments throughout the programme.  

There are opportunities for collaborative research within medical education or other lines of research within the Medical School’s portfolio including maternal health, mental health and vascular disease. 

We are looking for a GP with a track record of scholarly educational development and successful delivery, a passion for teaching and enabling student learning, and an enthusiasm for cross-discipline working with colleagues in the University and NHS.

The successful applicant will be appointed on an honorary contract basis with the substantive role being held within their current GP Practice/Trust. This joint appointment will be subject to the agreement of the substantive employer.
