Professor of Law
Appointment of Professor of Law
Goldsmiths, University of London
Creativity has always been the hallmark of Goldsmiths. Founded in 1891, we have a rich academic history and are known for our creative approach to delivering subjects in a close-knit yet dynamic and innovative environment. Our courses and research activities span the arts, humanities, social sciences, as well as computing, business, and management across 18 academic departments. Based in our single-site campus in vibrant South-East London, Goldsmiths has around 10,000 students from 121 countries.
As we continue to diversify our curriculum and pursue academic areas that will enhance and develop our value as a place for study and research, we are now looking to appoint an inspiring and ambitious individual who will breathe life into the development of Law at Goldsmiths. Building on existing strengths in creative, media, social analysis and digital research, the vision is to establish Law as an area of study and research that will forge new connections across the University and offer a distinctive and contemporary approach. The person appointed will be responsible for shaping Law’s distinct identity, developing the curriculum and leading the accreditation process, recruiting students and staff, and developing its research culture.
This will not be an individual task. Our Law developments will be supported by our Strategic Planning and Project team and based within our Institute of Management Studies until stability has been achieved and Law is ready to stand-alone as a department in its own right.
The appointee will have: a proven academic track record, ideally, in an area aligned with Goldsmiths’ strengths; the knowledge required to develop a series of distinctive and professionally relevant degrees in Law; and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within Goldsmiths as well as with external partners.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual. They will have a major impact in developing a new academic offer that is forward-looking and distinctive and in contributing to Goldsmiths’ strategy to improve graduate outcomes, enhance teaching and learning, and facilitate further engagement with our local communities and partners.
