A 2017 finalist at the prestigious Australian Training Awards, Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) Faculty of Vocational Education and Training (VET) delivers more than 160 qualifications to over 14,000 students through online, blended and face-to-face modes of learning, at campuses in Darwin, Casuarina, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine and Nhulunbuy. Accomplished in the delivery of services across regional, remote and very remote regions of the Northern Territory to diverse, aboriginal, multi-cultural and mainstream communities, CDU is committed to working with industry, creating purpose built courses to meet local needs, and being an integral part of the Northern Territory’s economic and social development agenda.

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Vocational Education and Training, the Executive Director VET Education and Innovation (EDVETEI) will provide high level strategic leadership and management of VET Faculty initiatives and projects, including business continuity of teaching and learning leadership, community engagement, and governance functions, and resourcing and supporting activities to support quality improvement process for VET.

The EDVETEI will address new business development, including growth in Indigenous delivery and VET International onshore and offshore activity. This portfolio also leads the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives to improve student pathways, retention and completion. 

This outstanding opportunity will suit professionals with expertise in the design of responsive innovative tertiary educations programs and products, quality management systems and practices, with the ability to interpret policies, regulations, guidelines and legislative and compliance requirements, and to critically analyse, plan and drive innovation.

With respected leadership capabilities, the EDVETEI will bring high-level interpersonal and communication skills, including good listening skills and the ability to negotiate and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Applications will be supported with recognised transformational change management skills, and education, training and/or relevant industry experience and/or a degree in Management, Education or a related discipline.
