The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health.

We wish to appoint a proactive Research Funding Officer to provide comprehensive pre-award support to the MRC African Units. The post holder will be responsible for assessing and providing advice on the costing and pricing of research applications. Led by a Research Funding Manager they will work as part of a team of four other funding officers and will hold an area of specialist expertise in one or more major funders of research. The post holder will also have responsibility for the financial management of a small portfolio of complex research projects at post-award stage and will act in an advisory to members of the post-award Finance team on funding issues linked to their specialism.

This is a busy and varied role in a customer-focused environment working with a range of research funder’s online systems, such as JE-S, Grants.Gov and ECAS. This role will suit someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex funder policies to non-specialists.
