In recent years, the University has climbed significantly in global league tables and was namedas a rising star, the most collaborative of the Australian universities, and the biggest Australian mover in the Nature Index results for 2016.Curtin is industry-facing, highly engaged with relevant stakeholders, and a major global player, with well-integrated campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, and Dubai.

Curtin’s Faculty of Science and Engineering is characterised by deep research strengths and a strong culture of innovation, across both teaching and learning, and industry engagement. Researchers in the faculty carry out internationally recognised research in areas ranging from radio astronomy to agriculture, from developing new fuels to improving water quality, from nanoscience to earth science, and many more. They collaborate widely with other research centres and universities, both in Australia and overseas, as well as with CSIRO and industrial partners. This includes Innovation Central Perth – an industry and research collaboration centre established with Cisco, Woodside Energy and CSIRO’s Data61. On the education front, the Curtin Engineering Studio AP1 was one of the first of its kind in the world and has been the forerunner for many new and innovative teaching and learning spaces. The faculty also runs outreach programs that take science and engineering to schools and the community.

Curtin University is now seeking a new Pro Vice-Chancellor, Science and Engineering. Reporting to the Provost, and as a member of the Senior Executive Team, the role presents a unique opportunity to lead a diverse and high-performing faculty, while also playing a key part in strategic discussions at the University level. The appointee will be an established leader, with the experience to lead a complex faculty, and the commercial drive to continue developing Curtin’s strong industry orientation. They will have a passion for innovation in teaching and learning and a deep understanding of the domestic and international student markets.
