SOAS University of London is one of the world’s leading institutions for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We are a truly global university, with one of the most international student and staff bodies in the world. Our research expertise in languages, political and social sciences, arts and culture, and humanities, brings together scholars and stakeholders from across our regions and beyond. Our work impacts positively on the local and global communities with which we engage, providing the resources and knowledge to equip people for a global economy and a multicultural world.

Following the appointment of Professor Richard Black to the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Birmingham, this is an exciting opportunity to join our world class, diverse community and to lead on further shaping our research and enterprise strategy and profile.

As Pro-Director and a member of the School’s Executive Board, you will lead the development and delivery of all aspects of the School’s Research and Enterprise strategy, inspiring and harnessing academic research excellence and fostering innovation and collaboration, nationally and globally. Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues from across the School, you will also provide strategic leadership and line management for designated Heads of Department.

Candidates will demonstrate a record of outstanding achievement in academic leadership and research, combined with excellent influencing
and ambassadorial skills, and an understanding of, and commitment to, our values and ethos.
