Ref: 17/106097

School of Nursing and Midwifery

Founded in 1845 as Queen’s College Belfast, we became an independent university in 1908. Today, we’re a member of the Russell Group, combining excellence in research and education with a student-centred ethos.

Our research teams deliver world class evidence that is grounded in the needs of our community and impacts practice internationally - putting care of patients and their families throughout the life span as our top priority. As an interdisciplinary research centre, we welcome applications from leading nurses and midwives as well as high calibre candidates from cognate disciplines.

The successful candidate will strengthen the academic base of the School. The post holder will undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to School’s administration/outreach activity.

Please note in the event we are unable to recruit at Senior Lecturer level consideration will be given to appointing at Lecturer level.

Our five core values (Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Ambition, Connected) have been developed by staff and students. They express our shared understanding of what we believe, how we aim to behave and what we aspire to be as an international organisation.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A primary Degree
  • A PhD in a relevant area
  • A record of high quality publications at an international level of excellence in internationally recognised journals.
  • A record of successfully obtaining significant research funding or other resources to underpin research, as appropriate to the discipline, through competitive national or international peer-reviewed processes as Principal Investigator.
  • A research profile that complements the research priorities of the School/Institute
  • Evidence of developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques.
  • Experience of presenting at national and international meetings and conferences.
  • Successful PhD supervision normally as Primary Supervisor
