We are seeking an enthusiastic Communications, Involvement & Engagement Officer to join the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Immunisation and the Vaccine Centre at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The HPRU and Vaccine Centre includes a diverse team of researchers from areas including clinical medicine, epidemiology, medical statistics, qualitative science, social science, health economics, mathematical modelling and laboratory science. The post-holder will provide high quality communications support to the Director and will be responsible for all communication and dissemination activities for HPRU and Vaccine Centre. They will also be expected to build effective working relationships within the teams, with colleagues and students in the School and with external partners. The successful candidate will be expected to take informed operational decisions and actively identify opportunities for communications.
 
The successful candidate must have a first degree, professional training and/or substantial relevant experience in communication, media or related field, have experience supporting/delivering activities related to Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement (PPIE) and the ability to communicate complex ideas and findings in a clear and relatable manner with diverse audiences. Experience in communication technologies (design, writing tools, web design, social media management) is also essential. Knowledge of current thinking and PPIE policy affecting health research would be an advantage. Further particulars are included in the attached job description.
 
The post is full-time, is available immediately and is currently funded for one year with the possibility of extension subject to further funding. The appointment will be made at the School’s Professional Support Pathway Salary Scale Grade 5, £33,567 - £38,533 per annum. The post will be subject to the School’s terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year for full-time staff. In addition to this there are 6 fixed-date "Director's Days". Membership of the USS pension scheme is available.
