POSTDOC POSITION in the field of educational research 

The Department of Educational Sciences at Masaryk University, Faculty of Arts, invites applications for the position of post-doc in educational sciences. The applicant is expected to join the team which has worked on various research projects focused on intergenerational learning in a range of social environments (in families, communities and workplaces) and to participate in the further development of research in the field. The applicant’s research work should aim at describing and explaining the processes of intergenerational learning (preferably) in the workplace as an environment with high potential for this type of learning. The research will also cover the issues of learning within communities of practice and within organisations.

The findings will contribute to developing the knowledge base and the theory of intergenerational learning. The results will be published independently as well as in cooperation with department members. The candidate is expected to apply for a new grant during the work period in cooperation with his/her mentor. The mentor will be selected and appointed by the head of department, Associate Professor Petr Novotný. 
The Department of Educational Sciences is amongst the most highly respected institutions specialising in educational research in the Czech Republic, and the researcher can thus benefit from its long-standing expertise in this area as well as its many academic and professional contacts. The department has completed a number of projects supported by Czech and foreign grant agencies and organisations (e.g. the Czech Science Foundation or the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme/Marie Sklodowska-Curie). 
The successful candidate should: 

  • be a researcher who has received a PhD or its equivalent within the last 7 years 
  • be a researcher who has worked at least two whole years in the last three outside the territory of the Czech Republic in the field of research with a working time of at least 0.5 full-time equivalent, or who has been PhD student (or equivalent) abroad 
  • have a publishing record – in the last three years at least two publication outputs registered in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science, Scopus or ERIH PLUS databases and at the same time publications such as “articles”, “books”, “book chapters”, “letters” and “reviews”. The applicant must be the principal author of at least one publication (according to the subject specificity it may be as the first author, the corresponding/reprint author, or the role of the individual authors stated in the article). 
  • have experience in the field of research into intergenerational and/or workplace learning 
  • have experience in work on research projects 
  • have excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate with multiple teams
