The school recognises the value of education that is relevant and innovative and is therefore a dual sector school that works actively with industry, government and the community partners in real world settings to provide a range of programs from specially tailored intervention programs for young people at risk of leaving education to PhDs in education. These include tertiary pathways and workforce enhancement programs in TAFE and teacher education programs in Higher Education.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Vocational Education Teacher is mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in the units of competencies TAELLN411 - Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills and TAEASS502 - Design and Develop Assessment Tools from the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116.
You will be required to participate in the School's continuing reviews of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students' assessment. You will also interact with external organisations, industry groups and RMIT teaching and administration staff.
Skills & Experience Required
To be considered for the role it is essential that you have effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
You will have demonstrated skills in competency-based assessment and the capacity to diagnose learning problems in students and propose and implement effective solutions.
You will be responsible for ensuring current and contemporary teaching methods meets the education level being delivered and assessed. It is essential that you have relevant teaching experience and substantial discipline knowledge.
The appointee must meet vocational, assessment and delivery competencies and must hold the TAE50111 or TAE50116 Diploma of VET from the TAE Training and Education Training Package as a minimum qualification. You must also hold either or both of the units of competencies TAELLN411 - Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills and TAEASS502 - Design and Develop Assessment Tools.
