The Director of Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC MU) opens a position 

Postdoc in Functional Genomics

A postdoc position is available in Michal Šmída lab (; CEITEC, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic) to participate in research focused on identification of novel personalized therapies for diverse B-cell malignancies. We are seeking a person with expertise in cell and molecular biology to perform various drug and CRISPR/Cas9 screens with following in-depth validation and detailed molecular mechanism elucidation. Research will be conducted at CEITEC located in the life science campus of Masaryk University (Brno, Bohunice, 


  • Be within 7 years after receiving PhD. in molecular biology or related field 
  • Good knowledge of diverse cell biology and molecular biology techniques 
  • Some years of work experience with cell cultures, preferably also with lentiviral system of cell transduction 
  • Published in impactful journals in the field, corresponding to given stage of career demonstrating creativity and scientific quality (with at least 2 papers, one of them as first author, during the last 3 years) 
  • Worked at least 2 whole years out of the last 3 outside of the Czech Republic 
  • Good English language – spoken and written 

Desirable but not required: 

  • Motivated person with collaborative mind set 
  • Independence, enthusiasm, persistence and attention to detail 
  • Willingness to engage in the life of academic community 
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology and with performance of cellular screens
