The Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) in Ireland has awarded funding for a new project in the area of forest tree improvement, which is part of a larger Forest Management project that also includes forest protection research. The project is a collaborative one, involving Teagasc, NUIM, DAFM, Forest Research (Britain) and INRA (France), with UCD as the lead partner. The University seeks to recruit a post-doctoral research fellow to develop the forest genetics and tree improvement element of the project. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to postgraduate student supervision. It is also envisaged that the appointee will be responsible for project management and dissemination activities for the entire project.
The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to develop their career, demonstrating a capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement, allowing him/her to develop skills relevant for appointment in tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry.
Salary: €52,716 per annum
