The Centre for Device Thermography and Reliability (CDTR), in the School of Physics, University of Bristol, is looking for a Research Associate for 12 months. The CDTR is a world-leading research centre focusing on transforming the thermal management, electrical performance and reliability of novel microwave and power electronic devices, circuits and packaging, made of/for wide bandgap materials, such as GaN, SiC and diamond.
 
The role focuses on research in low-dimensional materials, their thermal and mechanical properties. Low-dimensional materials offer the opportunity to modify material properties beyond what is possible with three dimensional materials. The CDTR has an expanding activity in this research field, and this position aims to further strengthen it. The role also supports other research activities in the group where appropriate.
 
You should hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Physics, Material Science, Engineering or related discipline. You should have experience in thermal and mechanical characterization of materials. You should have a good publication record and experience of working with PhD students.
