Job Description

The Academic Program Administrator manages the day-to-day operations for the degree and certificate programs in the Department of Community Health Sciences. Programs include Masters of Public Health (MPH) with certificates in the following areas: Health Communication and Promotion; Community Assessment, Design, Implementation and Evaulation; Maternal and Child Health; and Mental Health and Substance Use. The APA will be able to describe the program, policies and requirements to graduate students enrolled in their respective degree and certificate programs. They support students and serve as a facilitator for students as they progress through and navigate the program, and work closely with faculty and administration at the School of Public Health to ensure student success and a quality experience within the program. This position manages curriculum development, operations, scheduling and tracks academic documents; produces department-level publications and other communications; and plans and coordinates student activities. This person, in conjunction with the Department Associate Chair (AC), Certificate Directors, the Education Office, Office of Career Services, and Directors of Professional and Academic Advising and Graduate Student Life, oversees departmental curricular and extra-curricular educational activities.

  • Serve as primary department contact for faculty and students regarding BU and Department policies and procedures relating to curriculum, grading, registration, course remediation, culminating experience, and other academic matters.
  • Track students' academic progress and report results to SPH registrar, program directors, and curriculum director.
  • Work with ACE to assign advisors for Masters students.
  • Provides departmental information to the Registrar on time and as required.
  • Serve as liaison to SPH central support offices (education, admissions, alumni, career services, graduate student life, admissions, professional and academic advising, teaching and digital learning).
  • Collects and analyzes data and reports for department and program use.
  • Manages program communications, including departmental publications: website, fliers, event programs, and department sections of SPH bulletin and brochures.
  • Foster student, alumni, and departmental culture by organizing, advertising and tracking certificate dinners, new student orientation, accepted student day, seminars, and social events.

Required Skills

Master's Degree and 1-3 years of experience required.
